I'm Mat Tolman, third generation in this trade. My grandfather started this business in 1969, my father carried it on, and I've spent more than 30 years on jobsites learning everything they had to teach me.
We've built our reputation one home at a time, by being honest about timelines, doing the work the way it should be done, and standing behind every project long after the last nail is driven.

Why We Started
Back in 1969, the Tolman family started this company on a simple idea: treat every home like it's your own, treat every customer like they're your neighbor, because in South Barre, they usually are.
That principle hasn't changed in over five decades. The tools have, the materials have, the codes have, but the standard hasn't. We still answer the phone ourselves. We still show up when we say we will. And we still build every project the way three generations of Tolmans were taught to.
