A homeowner in Barre, MA had an old deck and porch roof that were literally pulling away from the house. It was past the point of repair, so we tore the whole thing down and rebuilt it from the framing up, roof, soffit, electrical, railings, decking, and new siding behind it.
What We Did
- Demoed the failing deck, porch roof, and damaged siding behind it
- Rebuilt the structure with new pressure-treated framing, properly tied back to the house
- Framed and shingled a new porch roof with clean white beadboard soffit
- Ran new electrical and installed recessed lighting in the porch ceiling
- Installed white composite railings, posts, and post caps for a crisp finished look
- Laid down new pressure-treated decking
- Replaced the siding behind the porch so everything looks like one cohesive build
The Result
What used to be an unsafe, sagging porch is now a wide, well-lit covered space the family can actually use. The white columns and railings against the warm PT decking give it that classic New England farmhouse feel right in the middle of Barre.
